Differin comes in a gel or a cream
While many teenagers are affected with acne, this condition is not exclusive to adolescents. People can suffer with acne from the age of 10 through to their 40s. In fact many adults get acne for the first time in their mid-20s. Luckily by the age of 40, acne usually disappears.
Acne manifests itself in the form of pimples, pustules, cysts, congested pores, blackheads or whiteheads. These break out near oil glands on the face, back and chest. Over-the-counter products will not work for severe cases of acne, so if you are really suffering you should see a doctor. There is a wonderful product on the market called Differin which can help you.
There is no single factor that causes acne. One particular myth is that eating junk food can cause acne. Even though pizzas, burgers, fries, other greasy foods and chocolates are not good for overall health, they do not cause or make acne worse. There is some evidence that dairy products might aggravate acne but this is, as yet, unproven.
When should acne receive medical attention? The answer is simple: when it really bothers you. If it continually flares up, or doesn’t ever go away, you should consult a physician or dermatologist. Apart from being uncomfortable, bad acne can have a detrimental impact on a person’s life, whether an adolescent or an adult.
Differin is a retinoid medication that contains a new medical compound called adapalene which is particularly helpful in unclogging pores, thereby helping the acne to clear up. It can also lessen the severity of new outbreaks and reduce swelling and redness. Differin comes in a gel or a cream. It is applied to the infected areas once a day, usually before going to bed.
Be sure to speak to your physician about Differin when you see him or her about your acne problem.
